The Oak Grove Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Moberly Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moberly took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oak Grove, who comes in off a win.
Even though Oak Grove has not done well against Lone Jack recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Oak Grove secured a 55-49 W over Lone Jack. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Oak Grove.
Oak Grove can attribute much of their success to Phillip Nadeau, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals, and Maurkalip Riley, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Aaron Reeves, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Moberly couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Monroe City by a score of 50-48.
Moberly's loss came about despite a quality game from Mason Bivins, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Cameron Doubrava was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Their wins bumped Oak Grove to 2-0 and Lone Jack to 2-1.
Oak Grove might still be hurting after the 53-29 loss they got from Moberly when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Oak Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
