Pine Ridge is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Atlantic a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Pine Ridge Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Atlantic Sharks at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Pine Ridge put up the most points they have all season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Father Lopez as Pine Ridge made off with a 19-1 win. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Brooke Moye made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Moye was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Pine Ridge got a massive performance out of Aliyah Campos, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Campos has posted since back in February. Isabella Montell was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Pine Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Atlantic beat Seabreeze 14-11 on March 11th. With that victory, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Amelia Reavis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendal Carson, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexus Summerall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Atlantic's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for Pine Ridge, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-9-1.
