On Friday, things could have been worse for Tome, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-25 loss to The Gunston School.
The Gunston School found their leader in underclassman Layla Kent, who scored 27 points along with four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kent has scored at least a third of The Gunston School's points. Sophia Kent was another key contributor, scoring two points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Tome's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for The Gunston School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tome will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Avon Grove Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for The Gunston School, they will head out on the road to take on Salisbury Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Salisbury Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
