The Wellston Golden Rockets will take on the Fairland Dragons in a tournament on Tuesday. Wellston is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Wellston proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Meigs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Rockets have posted since April 27, 2024.

Hannah Potts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wellston saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Karr, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairland came up short against Portsmouth on Friday, falling 8-2.
Wellston pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Fairland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19-1.
Fairland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wellston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. It's a different story for Fairland, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Wellston's hitters?
Wellston took their victory against Fairland in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Do the Golden Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
