Mountain View has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Mountain View has not done well against Catalina Foothills recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mountain View walked away with a 64-56 win over Catalina Foothills.
Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Romero led the charge by scoring 19 points. Rowan Lemons was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ironwood Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They fell 78-65 to Cholla. While losing is never fun, Ironwood Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Cholla is ranked 77th).
Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Ironwood Ridge, they bumped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Mountain View didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Ironwood Ridge when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Ironwood Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
