Drew Klinck made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Preston Downs was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Lee, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Grenada kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Clinton has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.92 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gulfport.
Clinton also got a good showing from Brody Zumbro, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Stone Crain made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Josef Walker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Grenada, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grenada has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
