Orange Park is 2-8 against the Golden Eagles since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Orange Park Raiders will square off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Orange Park will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Orange Park escaped with a win against the Christians by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50.
Buchholz typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Fleming Island proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over the Bobcats. The win was all the more spectacular given Fleming Island's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Bobcats are ranked 95th).
Fleming Island can attribute much of their success to George Hamm, who scored 12 points along with five assists, and Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Crawford hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Reed, who scored nine points.
Orange Park is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Fleming Island, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-11.
Orange Park opened the new year with a less-than-successful 69-62 defeat to the Golden Eagles. Can Orange Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
