The Northern Bedford County Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Glendale with a sharp 34-8 win. Given Northern Bedford County's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Glendale is ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern Bedford County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Gable, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Northern Bedford County also got a significant boost from Adam Johnson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.
Even if they lost, Glendale's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Northern Bedford County's QB was sacked three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Landen Mcgarvey and his two sacks.
Northern Bedford County's win was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Southern Huntingdon County and 1-9 Claysburg-Kimmel (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.1% over those games). As for Glendale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Northern Bedford County will be playing at home against Meyersdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meyersdale is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Glendale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
