Central has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Saturday, Central was the victim of a rough 63-39 loss at the hands of South Walton. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Central came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while South Walton is ranked 391st).
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Lakin Mathews scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Mathews' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lily Mathews, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Pensacola Christian Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-21 loss to Rocky Bayou Christian on Friday.
Central's victory lifted them to 5-2 while South Walton's loss dropped them down to 2-4.
Everything went Central's way against Pensacola Christian Academy in their previous meeting last Thursday as Central made off with a 49-29 win. Will Central repeat their success, or does Pensacola Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
