The Liberty Red Devils fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Chesnee by a score of 47-35 on Friday. For Liberty, this counts as revenge for the 43-33 defeat the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Chesnee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Pearl Holloway. Despite the final result, she shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Dunn, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Chesnee, they dropped their record down to 4-21 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chesnee, they will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
