Having just played yesterday, the Neumann Celtics will jump right back in to play the Monsignor Pace Spartans at 2:20 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Neumann comes in on ten and Monsignor Pace on five.
Neumann has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Horizon on Thursday as Neumann made off with a 68-46 win. Given Neumann's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Horizon is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann had a senior duo take command as Sydney Martin scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and Sophia McCartney dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Martin has scored at least 25% of Neumann's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Van de wouw, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, it was close, but Monsignor Pace ultimately received the gift of a 42-39 win from a begrudging Spartanssquad.
Neumann's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Monsignor Pace, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1-1.
Everything came up roses for Neumann against Monsignor Pace in their previous matchup back in November as the squad secured a 77-41 victory. Does Neumann have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monsignor Pace turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
