Lake Braddock's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrone Jackson, who threw for 221 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes. What's more, Jackson racked up 111.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Payton Holmes helped Jackson out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Xavier Barravino, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, West Potomac's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over Alexandria City. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
A big part of West Potomac's win came down to the chemistry between Ben Knapp and his top target Brendan Forti. Knapp threw for 155 yards and three TDs while Forti picked up 88 receiving yards and one score. Forti was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 67 yards.
The victory got West Potomac back to even at 3-3. As for Lake Braddock, their record now sits at 6-0.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Lake Braddock has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for West Potomac, though, as they've been averaging only 61.5 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything went Lake Braddock's way against West Potomac when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Lake Braddock made off with a 49-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
