After five games on the road, Lakeside is heading back home. They will take on the Edgewood Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 726th, while Edgewood is ranked 75th).
Lakeside lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 68-23 loss at the hands of Madison. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Lakeside has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, Edgewood put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Geneva.
It was another big night for Mckenna Vencill, who scored 21 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Katie Mccollister was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Lakeside dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.9 points per game. As for Edgewood, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
Lakeside was taken down by Edgewood 75-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mccollister, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five assists. Now that Lakeside knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
