Delaware Christian has gone a perfect 6-0 against Danville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Delaware Christian is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
On Saturday, Delaware Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Mechanicsburg and fell 3-2.
Delaware Christian wouldn't go down easily and took Mechanicsburg into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 15-7.
Meanwhile, Danville made easy work of East Knox on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Danville never let East Knox on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-22, 25-16.
Delaware Christian better focus on containing Kenzi Staats and Kayley Sheldon as the pair were huge in Danville's win. Staats had 25 assists and three digs, while Sheldon had 13 digs and one assist. Staats has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more assists the last 11 times she's played.
Delaware Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Danville, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Delaware Christian has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Delaware Christian skirted past Danville 3-2 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
