The North Moore Mustangs will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the O'Neal Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
North Moore pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Stanly. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (61), North Moore still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, North Moore got a solid performance out of Colby Pennington, who scored 30 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Pennington's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Preslar, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to O'Neal, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They took a serious blow against Westminster Catawba Christian on Friday, falling 81-21. While losing is never fun, O'Neal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 562nd in North Carolina, while Westminster Catawba Christian is ranked 99th in South Carolina).
Their wins bumped North Moore to 3-2 and South Stanly to 6-0.
North Moore might still be hurting after the 74-48 defeat they got from O'Neal in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can North Moore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
