The South View Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the West Bladen Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South View has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while West Bladen will arrive with five straight victories.
South View is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since April 29, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 21-3 to South Columbus.
Brayden Moncrief was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, West Bladen was able to grind out a solid win over South Columbus on Saturday, taking the game 9-4.
The team relied heavily on Garrett Dunham, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
West Bladen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
West Bladen's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for South View, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
South View's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Bladen, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South View continue to outrun the ball?
South View couldn't quite get it done against West Bladen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
