Bellevue West had won three straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 4-3 to make it four. They breezed past the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks to the tune of 44-7. The Thunderbirds' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellevue West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Anderson, who threw for 282 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Anderson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Bellevue West also got a significant boost from Demarkus Robinson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.
As for Lincoln Southwest, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln Southwest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Thatcher Shelton rushed for 73 yards and one score on only six carries.
