After a string of six wins, the Kingston Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 70-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ubly. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (63), Kingston still had to take the loss.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Corlis, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Corlis has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Deroseau, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Kingston's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Ubly, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingston will take on Dryden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kingston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Ubly, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Brown City at 7:30 p.m. Brown City and Ubly are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
