The Madison-Grant Argylls lost against the Southwood Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Madison-Grant falling 55-40.
When it comes to explaining why Madison-Grant lost, one person who can't be blamed is Katie Stowers. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Stowers pulled down eight or more rebounds. Maddy Moore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Leading Southwood to victory were Lola Winer and Isabelle Ashba. Winer scored 12 points along with three steals, while Ashba scored 11 points along with eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Hali Pershing, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Madison-Grant has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Southwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Taylor has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29. As for Southwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeland Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
