Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Calvert walked away with it. They were the clear victors by  an  8-1 margin over the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains on Saturday. The Senecas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six  runs or more this season.
 Ava Eilrich made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   seven  hits. Eilrich was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI.
 In other batting news, Calvert let  Alyssa Rishty and  Gracie Miller run wild. Rishty  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI, while  Miller  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. That's the most  hits  Rishty has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was  Sofia Lee, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
 Calvert  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in six consecutive  contests.
Calvert's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Hopewell-Loudon,  with the  defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-9.
 Looking ahead, Calvert will challenge Columbian at 1:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Senecas' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tornadoes have averaged an impressive 6.3  runs per game this season. Hopewell-Loudon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
