It was a good run, but the McKinley Tech Trainers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 79-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roosevelt. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (58), McKinley Tech still had to take the loss.
McKinley Tech's loss came despite strong showings from DaMontae Neclos and Ricardo Hardy. Neclos scored 24 points, while Hardy scored 20 points. It was the first time this season that Hardy scored 15 or more points. Alexander Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
McKinley Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Roosevelt racked up 14 assists.
Roosevelt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamall Price, Jr. out in front who scored 19 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Jawuan Carter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
McKinley Tech's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley Tech will take on Banneker at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 55.7 points so far this season, McKinley Tech's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Banneker better be ready for a challenge. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing at home against Anacostia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Roosevelt is facing Anacostia at the right time seeing as Anacostia is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
