Burlington City (Burlington, N.J.) trailed
South Hunterdon (Lambertville, N.J.) by 17 points at one time, but managed to come all the way back and secure a 20-17 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Toby Coleman, the Eagles went into halftime with a 17-6 lead. The Blue Devils scored the winning points with a touchdown run by
Tamon Sykes that came in the third quarter.
The loss snapped South Hunterdon's eight-game winning streak.
Burlington City entered the contest giving up 20.9 points per game this year. BC held firm on the defensive front, and kept South Hunterdon well below the 32.4 points it had been averaging per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for South Hunterdon, which notched a 47-7 victory over Sussex County Tech in its previous outing.
