Baseball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

If Lamar was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Wagener-Salley on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Silver Foxes came up short against the Dixie Hornets on Thursday, falling 12-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Silver Foxes of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.

Hayden Timmons made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lamar's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Jayzon Parnell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Lamar has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Dixie, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-6.

As of now, neither Lamar nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
