Basketball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Austin's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Midfield Patriots by a score of 59-56. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Black Bears came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Patriots are ranked 61st).

Midfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Sellers, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points. That's the most points Sellers has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Midfield, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-53 defeat against Huntsville on the 26th. As for Midfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-46 win against Smiths Station on the 26th.
