Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Magnolia Heights played the most contested game in MAIS AAA I District 1 this week, with Madison-Ridgeland Academy eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory. Caleb Shufelt threw for 144 yards and ran for 82 yards in the win.
Jackson Academy took down Pillow Academy 58-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Patriots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Shufelt chipped in 82 yards.
Shufelt was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Clint Moses added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Shufelt has thrown for 1,005 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Zach McCraw has 27 catches for 397 yards.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,888 from 2,153. The advance stemmed from a 23-20 victory over the Chiefs last week.
