Richmond and the Vikings are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Richmond Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Union Pines Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Richmond gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hoke County 73-12 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-7.
Jasiah "JoJo" Gilchrist and Jamyia "Juicy" Lindsey were among the main playmakers for Richmond as the former scored 27 points along with five steals and the latter scored 37 points along with five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Lindsey has scored at least a third of Richmond's points.
Meanwhile, Union Pines was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 47-41 to the Fighting Scots. Union Pines has struggled against the Fighting Scots recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Richmond's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.3 points. As for Union Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Everything came up roses for Richmond against the Vikings in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 73-40 win. Will Richmond repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
