Riverside is 9-1 against South since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Beavers will be playing at home against the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
South will be up against a hot Riverside squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Beavers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 victory over Gilmour Academy on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Beavers have posted since March 23rd.
Maddy Kevern was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Kevern was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 contests.

In other batting news, Riverside got a massive performance out of Becca Tornow, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Tornow is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Wilhelm, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, South was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Geneva, sneaking past 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Like Riverside, South also got a great game from a two-way player: Halle Zupancic. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Zupancic was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Makayla Schneider was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Molly Heil was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
South's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
South's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverside has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.3 hits per game. It's a different story for South, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Riverside's sizable advantage in that area, the Rebels will need to find a way to close that gap.
Riverside got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against South by a conclusive 16-1 score. Do the Beavers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
