Basketball Recap: Potomac Comes Up Short

Potomac was the 64-60 winner over Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Potomac Wolverines took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South Tigers on Tuesday. The Wolverines' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Defeat or not, Potomac got some senior leadership from Korie Cobham Jr and Darveon Wiley. Cobham Jr went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Wiley went 6-for-11 on his way to 16 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wiley has scored all season.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lincoln Nelson, who posted 17 points. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South is undefeated when Nelson posts 15 or more points, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Exton, who had 11 points along with six assists and three steals.

Potomac's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Potomac didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-36 victory against College Park Academy on the 6th. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they have also already played their next game, a 92-49 defeat against Douglass on the 6th.
