Baseball Game Preview: Bonanza Bengals vs. Eldorado Firehawks

For the second straight game, Bonanza will face off against Eldorado. The Bengals will head out to face off against the Firehawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bonanza has four straight victories, Eldorado has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bonanza had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Eldorado on Monday. The Bengals never let the Firehawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bengals considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Darren McGee made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bonanza is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-11 otherwise. McGee was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Jacob Santistevan and Ashton Reed did most of the damage at the plate: Santistevan scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Reed scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Bonanza is undefeated when Santistevan posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise.

Bonanza hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Bonanza pushed their record up to 8-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
