The Millard South Patriots's game on Tuesday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 68-60 to Omaha North. While losing is never fun, Millard South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Omaha North is ranked 27th).
Millard South lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Will Cooper, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Cooper. Bernie Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
It was another big night for Mynor Strong, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds for Omaha North. The matchup was Strong's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jerri'on Williams, who scored 14 points.
Millard South are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Omaha North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millard South will be home for the holidays to greet Columbus at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha North will take on Lincoln Southwest at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lincoln Southwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
