Moapa Valley extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 5-8. They came up short against the Boulder City Eagles, falling 17-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on Wednesday.
Jake Hadley and Toby Wood stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hadley went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Wood went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Christopher Kohntopp, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
As for Boulder City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Boulder City's side, Gavin Robinson made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Robinson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Boulder City is undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Spencer Aten was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Boulder City: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-7 otherwise. Karter Law was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Moapa Valley will take on rival Virgin Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Boulder City is set to square off against their familiar foe The Meadows School at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
