Basketball Recap: Alamo Navajo Takes a Loss

If Alamo Navajo was feeling good fresh off their 65-37 takedown of To'hajiilee last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Alamo Navajo Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 56-55 to the Mescalero Apache Chiefs. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andy Pino, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Pino's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Zephaniah Guerro was another key player, putting up seven points and 20 boards.

Alamo Navajo's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Mescalero Apache, they moved to 4-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Alamo Navajo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 79-53 victory against To'hajiilee on the 7th. As for Mescalero Apache, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-28 loss against Ruidoso on the 6th.
