Dallas has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Albany recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Redhawks at 5:00 p.m. Dallas' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so South Albany's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Dallas took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They skirted past Silverton 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since April 3rd.
Mahayla Benoit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dallas' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddi Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Albany). They put the hurt on McKay with a sharp 23-1 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Redhawks with their most commanding win of the season.
Emily Tschida was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ella Avery was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
South Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dallas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for South Albany, their record now sits at 8-14.
South Albany's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Dallas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Albany, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Dallas keep running through batters, or will the Redhawks buck the trend?
Everything went Dallas' way against South Albany when the teams last played back in April, as Dallas made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
