The Momence Momence Athletics entered their tilt with the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Momence walked away with a 51-38 victory over Grace Christian Academy on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Momence, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Momence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Roberson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Roberson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Avery Rosenbohm was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Dalton, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Dalton hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Salazar, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Momence has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Grace Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Momence and Gardner-South Wilmington will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gardner-South Wilmington will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Grace Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Illinois Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Illinois Lutheran has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
