Greenon hasn't had much luck against Northeastern recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jets at 5:30 p.m. Greenon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Southeastern Local hit Greenon with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 10-2 to the Trojans. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly eight runs.
Greenon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northeastern had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 5-3.
Kylee Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Bowser was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
Northeastern's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Greenon, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenon couldn't quite finish off Northeastern in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 5-3. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
