Platte Valley is 4-0 against Fort Lupton since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. On Thursday, Platte Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Frontier Academy, but they still walked away with a 60-55 victory. The victory was just what Platte Valley needed coming off of a 62-31 defeat in their prior game.
Braylon Edstrom was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Platte Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Edstrom, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fort Lupton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Sheridan on the road to the tune of 95-21. Fort Lupton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.
Platte Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Fort Lupton, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Platte Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Fort Lupton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Fort Lupton's Jesus Vasquez, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Platte Valley to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
