The Clever Blue Jays came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Central with points to spare, taking the game 55-38.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clever to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayleign Flood, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Ireland Jones was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Clever's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Clever will be home for the holidays to greet Glendale at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Glendale's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Clever's offense will have their work cut out for Clever. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Springfield Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
