On Friday, The Mogollon Mustangs faced the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mogollon strolled past Cicero Prep Academy with points to spare, taking the game 42-24. Winning may never get old, but Mogollon sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Kyson Owens had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Alexis Suarez also helped out as he racked up 135 rushing yards.
Cicero Prep Academy's loss came despite strong showings from David Yourkoski and Luke Hodgson. Yourkoski picked up 234 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Hodgson threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.4 yards per attempt. Yourkoski is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in the last six games he's played.
Mogollon's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Cicero Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.
Mogollon will face off against Bagdad at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Bagdad is ranked third, while Mogollon is ranked second). Cicero Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
