Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Ralston Valley

Ralston Valley extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came out on top against the Denver East Angels by a score of 64-52. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 69-50 victory the Angels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.

Caiden Braketa went supernova, going 7-for-12 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Cole Spain, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Ralston Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up six more assists than Denver East's also-impressive total of 14.

As for Denver East, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Denver East lost, don't look at Noah Adkins. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field en route to 17 points along with five assists and five boards. Adkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dayesun Collier was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Coming up, Ralston Valley will be playing at home against Legend at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver East, they will head out to square off against St. Anthony's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
