Basketball Recap: Pace Comes Up Short

Pace came up into this matchup off a tough 22-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the West Florida Jaguars by a score of 47-45 on Saturday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-34 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Pace saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddie Wise went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for Wise. Another player making a difference was Grace Manor, who posted 14 points and four steals.

West Florida found their leader in sophomore Amani Bartholomew, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 25 points and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bartholomew has scored at least a third of West Florida's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamora Harris, who had eight points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Pace and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for West Florida, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Pace didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-35 victory against Navarre on the 7th. As for West Florida, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-40 win against Pine Forest on the 6th.
