The Valor Christian Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Pine Creek with a 77-73 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Valor Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Lytle, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kate Fuessel, who scored 14 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leekaya Burke-perryman, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 5 assists. Those 32 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Stewart, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Valor Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Pine Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valor Christian will take on Rangeview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rangeview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Valor Christian is ranked ninth). Pine Creek is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Fort Collins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
