Baseball Recap: Piute Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Piute hadn't done well against Panguitch recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bobcats. Winning may never get old, but the Thunderbirds sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brodee Montague spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Piute is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Piute let Bodie Gayler and Pendleton Bowler run wild. Gayler went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Bowler went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs.

Piute's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Panguitch, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Piute will host Wayne at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Badgers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Panguitch, they will take on Tintic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Miners have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
