The Centura Centurions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 56-34 loss at the hands of Boone Central. While losing is never fun, Centura can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Boone Central is ranked 43rd).
Several Centurions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayden Anderson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Anderson grabbed two or more steals. Barrett Fries was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
Centura's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Boone Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centura will take on Arcadia/Loup City at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Centura focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Boone Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwest at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Boone Central's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Northwest has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
