The GVCS Broadfording Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Allegany 78-36. GVCS Broadfording has not had much luck with Allegany recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why GVCS Broadfording lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Shifler. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Shifler's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cartwright, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
GVCS Broadfording bumped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Allegany, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. GVCS Broadfording will be home for the holidays to greet Martinsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Allegany will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eastern Tech at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th.
