Football Recap: Millbury Takes a Loss

Millbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bay Path RVT Minutemen. If the Woolies were looking for revenge after losing 27-13 to the Minutemen when the teams met back in November of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loss or not, Millbury got some senior leadership from Aiden Phillipo and Matteus Mateo. Phillipo picked up 254 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Mateo threw for 338 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Those 338 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Mateo.

Elias Vega went supernova For Bay Path RVT., rushing for 201 yards and three scores while picking up 12.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 53 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Vega is now averaging an impressive 117 rushing yards per game. Bay Path RVT also got a significant boost from Gabe Ortiz, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.

Millbury now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Bay Path RVT, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Millbury is set to face off against their familiar foe Northbridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bay Path RVT will challenge rival Uxbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
