Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the Patrick Henry Patriots proved on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat High Tech SD 75-43 at home. Given Patrick Henry's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Storm are ranked 982nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patrick Henry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Weatherred, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jacob Baker, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
High Tech SD's loss came despite strong showings from Sebastian Blackaller and Severin Stone. Blackaller scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Stone scored 12 points. Stone continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Patrick Henry is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for High Tech SD, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry will stay at home for another game and welcome the Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on January 30th. Morse knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Patriots like a good challenge.
