The Belmont Cardinals will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Humphreys County Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Belmont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Humphreys County is ranked 100th).
Last Friday, Belmont got themselves on the board against Mantachie, but Mantachie never followed suit. They beat the Mustangs by the very same score they won with last week: 22-0. Considering Belmont has won four games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Humphreys County narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Amanda Elzy 24-22. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Humphreys County.
Ollizous Brent and Markevious York were among the main playmakers for Humphreys County as the former rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries and the latter rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Tayshun Walker got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Belmont's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22 points. As for Humphreys County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
