The Master's Academy Eagles will face off against the Florida State University High School Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Master's Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
With a playoff game on the line, Master's Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Green Wave 54-36. Given Master's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Father Lopez is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Master's Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devaughn Stallworth, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Stallworth hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Pitts, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Florida State University High School unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Marianna 47-43. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Florida State University High School has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Amare Robinson, who scored seven points. Caleb Godwin was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Master's Academy pushed their record up to 17-9 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Florida State University High School, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
Master's Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Florida State University High School in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, winning 73-64.
