After each having a week off, The Overton Bobcats and the Stratford Spartans will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Overton has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Stratford will arrive with four straight wins.
Two Thursdays ago, Overton took a serious blow against Summit, falling 37-6. Overton has struggled against Summit recently, as two Thursdays ago's match was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, everything went Stratford's way against Maplewood two Thursdays ago as Stratford made off with a 40-20 victory.
Stratford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alterion Frazier, who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Quortez Gilbert-Duncan, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Gilbert-Duncan and his two sacks.
Stratford's victory bumped their season record to 5-3 while Overton's defeat dropped theirs to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Overton against Stratford when the teams last played back in August of 2022 as the team secured a 47-0 victory. Will Overton repeat their success, or does Stratford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
