After a string of three wins, the Prairie Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Fleming by a score of 37-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Prairie has suffered yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why Prairie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kendra Sutter. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with five assists and five rebounds. Sutter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Kugler, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Fleming's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ciana Lousberg led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lousberg has scored all season. Tori Champ was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Prairie's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3. As for Fleming, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prairie will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Potter-Dix at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter-Dix is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Fleming, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Peetz at 4:00 p.m. Peetz will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Fleming is ranked 69th).
